About the Campaign
In Africa, access to quality education remains a challenge for millions of children and youth, limiting their opportunities for personal growth and socioeconomic advancement. Recognizing the power of collective action, we propose a bold initiative to mobilize One Million Africans to commit just $1 each, pooling our resources to create a tangible impact on educational opportunities across the continent in the new ECI’s strategic plan 2025 – 2029.
Education in Crisis’ $1 commitment campaign is a fundraising campaign with a goal to reach One Million Africans to commit to supporting children’s education by committing $1 so that EIC can send back up to 100,000 out of school children by 2025. EIC’s founding principle is mobilizing local resources from local people to solve local problems faced by local people. To scale up its activities and continue to promote inclusive, equitable, quality education for poverty alleviation and sustainable development across the African continent, we must address the education crises. To respond to the pressing African humanitarian crises, the education crisis must be addressed first, that is EIC pre-launched the ambitious #OneDollarCommitment, a resource mobilization campaign in a twitter space on July 3, 2023. Already delivering quality education to over 201 children across 5 African countries, the campaign calls on every African, donors, the private sector, philanthropic foundations, and high-net-worth individuals to urgently mobilize $1 to scale up EIC’s investment in the Right to Education for every child, youth and adolescent whose Education is in Crisis.
The Campaign Objective:
The objective of the One Million Africans campaign is to harness the collective generosity of Africans to raise funds for education of every child, including providing scholarships, improve learning infrastructures, capacity building of teachers, and education accessibility to children in emergencies and conflict areas. By mobilizing one million individuals to contribute just $1 each, we aim to demonstrate the transformative potential of small, individual contributions when united toward a common goal.
How EIC intends to reach its goal (You can suggest other strategies to us):
Mobilization Strategy:
- Utilize one on one approach to reach diverse audiences across Africa as well as leveraging digital platforms, social media, traditional media, and grassroots outreach.
- Engage with local organizations, businesses, community leaders, influencers, religious and educational institutions to amplify the campaign’s reach and credibility.
- Develop compelling messaging that emphasizes the importance of education as a catalyst for individual empowerment, community development, and continental progress.
Digital Fundraising Platforms in Tanzania:
- EIC has established a user-friendly online platforms that facilitates easy and secure donations, leveraging mobile payment systems to accommodate the widespread use of smartphones across Africa.
- Provide transparent reporting mechanisms to track donations, monitor progress, and showcase the impact of contributions in real-time (Follow our social media to monitor goal tracking)
Advocacy and Awareness:
- Launch a comprehensive advocacy campaign to raise awareness about the importance of education and the role of small donations in driving meaningful change.
- Share success stories, testimonials, and educational statistics to illustrate the impact of donations and inspire greater participation.
- Encourage individuals to become ambassadors for the campaign, spreading the message within their communities and networks.
Partnership Building:
- Forge strategic partnerships with businesses, religious houses, foundations, philanthropists, and international organizations to leverage additional resources, expertise, and networks.
- Collaborate with educational stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, schools, and universities, to identify priority areas for investment and ensure alignment with existing initiatives.
