Education in Crisis (EiC) was born out of a deep conviction that every child no matter where they are born or what circumstances they face deserves the chance to learn, dream, and shape their future. George Omer Nalo, the founder of EiC narrates the founding of Africa’s 3 time award winning NGO making accessible the Right to Education to all in hard-to-reach places in the world. The idea emerged in the aftermath of years of witnessing conflict and displacement rob countless children across Sudan and the region of their right to education. Communities were determined, parents were hopeful, but classrooms were empty and opportunities scarce. Moved by this reality, George mobilized a group of Nuba university and high school students in East Africa to drive EiC’s vision, a movement built on compassion, resilience, and action. Their goal was simple but urgent: to restore learning in the hardest-to-reach places and ensure that education is never the first casualty of crisis. From makeshift learning spaces in the Nuba Mountains, Sudan to teacher training initiatives and nutrition programs supporting children in displacement camps, EiC has grown into a force for hope and transformation reaching over 60,000 of learners and inspiring communities to rebuild through education. Today, EiC stands as a continental voice for education in emergencies recognize 3 times in Africa and United Kingdom driven by its founding belief that education is the most powerful act of resilience that unlocks human potential, overcomes poverty, improves well-being and builds democracies.
